GOP failed to express vision for America.

Romney Money

The following was published as a letter to the editor in the Killeen Daily Herald on Sunday, September 2, 2012.

To the Editor:

"You is kind, you is smart and you is important." Those words were spoken to a toddler in the movie "The Help." A black housekeeper's way of teaching self-esteem to one of the many little white girls she nurtured as they matured.

The past couple of evenings, I observed segments of the televised Republican Party convention.

Where were the Christian values, humanity, and sense of fairness they espouse?War - What Is It Good For?

Valuable time was spent attacking the current president as I yearned to hear their vision for America and the plans to get there.

When did the Republican Party lose leadership that was vital to America's landscape of politics?

I am black, I am a woman, and I am a voter.

The hatefulness, flagrant lies, and intention to win the 2012 election by any means necessary, saddens me. The Republican's continued attempts to suppress the vote and honor a pledge contrived by one man over 18 years ago to never raise taxes without any means of creating revenue is destroying our country and democracy.

The Republican Party unveiled a platform where money trumps the concerns of all Americans.

Let it be known that no matter how much money the Republican Party spends or how many lies they repeat, they have lost the vote of millions of women, people of color and anyone standing for decency.

Republicans, you are no longer kind, smart, or important to American politics. Please get help!
